Research Survey

Dear parents of children ages 9-16,

To go straight to survey, click here: Survey

I’ve been conducting research on kids and social media for several years. Recent research I conducted about how media affects emotional learning was written about in the NY Times, Time Magazine and featured on NPR.

But there’s still so much to learn about how new social media are shaping the hearts and minds of our children. Now I’m embarking on a new study that seeks to uncover just how all this new technology is affecting our children. And I need your help.

I hope you’ll encourage your child to participate in a fun and easy survey to further explore and understand their digital world. Just forward this survey link to your child and ask them to take it.  Click here Survey or cut and paste below.

It takes about 10-15 minutes and can even be done on their phone or tablet. They can also enter for a raffle reward of a $50 gift card to Amazon.

Your child’s answers will be kept confidential.  The results of the survey are intended to be aggregated to present an overall picture of children’s social media use but individual responses will not be linked to any child.  The only person who will have access to the data is myself and a research assistant, and it will not be shared with a third party.  We will release the results later this year.  If you have any questions, please reach out to me anytime.

Thank you so much for your help.  As a mom, scientist and author, I am eternally grateful.  And thank you to the fantastic website, they have always been my go-to for anything to do with schools in America.

    Hi Dr. Yalda Uhls:
I need help figuring out how to make a reasonable schedule for screen usage with my 11 year old. All we do is argue about it. I don’t enjoy that. What can I do?
